six months of will yum.

Posted on August 26, 2009

Six months of adoration by his mummy and daddy. Six months of aunty Kate chomping his chubby things. Six months of being smooged by Cassidy, his number one fan whom has no regard for personal space. Six months of being spoiled by doting grandparents at every turn. Six months of ice melting slowly off Isaac’s “I don’t like babies” facade. Six months of The Cheeks.

Can you believe our gorgeous William is six months.

Us, taking happy snaps at our friend Cath’s thirtieth on the weekend.  A beautiful afternoon with my three favourite-est loves.

twenty five bucks.

That’s how much this little frock cost. From one of those temporary Bali import shops they set up in the middle of shopping centres. She’s hardly taken it off since she got it and was prancing around in it this afternoon when I asked her to come into the backyard for a photo.

Twenty five bucks full of gorgeous ain’t she.

Previously, she also had a $2 shop flashing fairy wand stuck down the back of the dress. I guess she wanted it handy in case she needed to be quick on the draw. Very “my name is Indigo Mantoya. You killed my father. Prepare to be turned into a frog”. (going on the notion here that over 95% of people that read my blog have seen the movie the Princess Bride!)

let me eat cake.

Posted on August 16, 2009

My blog has slipped into a bit of a coma of late. The usual blah blah blah excuses of having too much on, a sick boy and a cake tower to construct (the term is usually “cake decorating” but this one comes under the more heavy machinery heading of “cake construction”).

My lovely friend Fiona turned thirty this week and had a retro themed par-tay last night. So I did a retro-diner themed cake:

fis-30th

I have been making mini hamburgers, hotdogs and other retro sundries into the early hours most nights this week. I love it and I love a challenge involving icing. Give me a theme for a cake and I’m there. Give me a retro theme and I’m there even more :)

I’ll let the booth speak for itself:

And one I like of us that I missed and then was too lazy to re-make the collage above…

Hoping to return to my regulary scheduled blogging soon. xo

permission to grow: denied.

Posted on August 8, 2009

If anyone out there has a method for stunting a little boy’s growth, I’d like to hear it.

He lost his first tooth tonight. A bit of a non-event in most households, but considering he’s coming up seven and some of his friends lost teeth in kindy, this has been a long time coming for our boy. Not quite long enough for his mummy. I looked at him tonight and realised his baby teeth are about the only baby thing left about him.

I know every mummy in the world goes through this…all the time…in fact, many many times as they grow…but really and truly…where did my baby boy go? He was only here but a heartbeat ago :(

chubba bubba baby boys.

Posted on August 4, 2009

There’s nothing like a lil’ bit o’ squishy baby to moisten up a blog drought.

This is my ever-so-handsome nephew Will-Yum and his mate Emmanuel (Manny to his friends :) ) The boys were only born a few weeks apart and his lovely mummy Kirsten is one of my sister’s close friends. They recently moved to Newcastle :( but were up visiting recently and they bought the boys over for a couple of shots. Manny thought everything was ever so amusing that day; right down the the loop pile on my carpet. William however had seen it all before and was much harder to impress. I finally got a smile when I bought out the big guns and did my-stand-on-my-head-holding-the-camera-and-juggling-steak-knives move.

I know it’s been a bit of a blog drought (as so gently put to me in an email from my mother this morning which contanied the words “you are slack, where is my blogging entertainment”). Things have just been so busy with the booth since we got back from the snow. It’s been great, just busy. We went to a bridal expo on Sunday and are still recovering.

I’m hoping to grab some inspiration back this week and blow the dust off my camera. I had a moment last week and considered taking the girl out for some shots. She and I were in the car when I asked the question but decided against it when she lifted her sunnies ala Elizabeth Taylor to look at me and said, “I would like to mummy…..but no”. Okaaaayyy.
